For example, if a student has a Social Security number but doesn’t know the first four digits, they must enter VG9876.
Information about intellectual property rights
Intellectual property that is created by students or faculty is subject to the same protections as other intellectual property. However, students who use significant College resources have their own ownership rights to intellectual property. As a result, students are treated as similarly situated personnel for the purposes of intellectual property. Therefore, they are entitled to the same rights and distribution of revenues as other faculty and staff. This policy applies to all VGCC students and faculty.
VGCC encourages the creation and dissemination of intellectual property, including copyrights and patents. Examples of intellectual property include literary works, computer software, multimedia presentations, and inventions. The College also owns its logo and other material that relates to its intellectual property. Generally, ownership will be determined under certain conditions, including the significant use of College resources. However, students and faculty are expected to adhere to these policies to avoid infringement of intellectual property.
