C9 Sheiden, Aside from all of the hype surrounding the Destiny expansion, there are several other things that have been happening with the game. For starters, the Destiny’s team is moving to C9 Sheiden, and there are some interesting tweets from avaail. Then there is the fact that Cloud9 finished second in NA Academy 2022 Spring.
Destiny’s move to C9 Sheiden Academy
There have been quite a few changes on Cloud9’s LCS roster this summer. First off, Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen is rumored to be returning to the team. The Korean AD Carry has not officially announced his return, but a Cloud9 source said that he will likely join the squad.
Aside from Jensen, Cloud9 C9 Sheiden has also lost three players to free agency. Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon, Jonas “Isles” Rosario, and Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaya are all looking for new teams.
However, the team is also reuniting with veteran AD Carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen. He is expected to return for Week 3 of the summer split. In addition, Cloud9 has also opted to replace the entire backup class League of Legends composition with Don Keon.
This decision was based on a number of reasons. For one, Zven’s visa issues kept him out of the roster, and the team wanted to give him a chance to practice with his old teammates. Additionally, Zven is an incredibly skilled player, and will contribute to the academy scrims.
With this new roster, Cloud9 is aiming to build synergistic teams. In addition to adding a support player, the LCS roster will include a jungler and top laner. It will be interesting to watch what this group of players can do.
C9 Sheiden Academy Roster
In other news, C9’s academy roster has now finished second in the NA Academy 2022 Spring. After finishing behind Counter Logic Gaming’s reserve side, the team defeated 100 Thieves in the lower bracket.
Last week, Sebastian “Malice” Edholm joined the team as a coach. The rest of the academy squad remains in the studio. They are now waiting on the arrival of Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw and Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen.
As of this writing, Destiny is in his first week with the LCS. While it hasn’t been ideal, he’s had a lot of chances to demonstrate his skills. Also, he’s reunited with his former Oceanic partner, Calvin k1ng Truong.
If he’s able to bring his team’s performance up a few notches, the LCS could be a great opportunity for Destiny. And, in a few weeks, he’ll get a shot at the European Championships.
Isles and Winsome still in the process of finding new homes
Although Isles and Winsome were not a part of the official C9 League of Legends team, they are still looking for their new homes. This has to be a good thing for both the players and the fans. They were a popular part of the team, especially during the early spring split where the team had a 3-3 pro record. In addition to the Isles & Winsome, Cloud9 has also parted ways with the Spring Split MVP, Summit. As of this writing, no one is sure what Summit’s future will look like, but he may end up returning to Korea. Regardless, he was a great asset to the organization during their inaugural LCS run.
Isles & Winsome
The Isles & Winsome are still scouting for their next home, but their time in the sun is over. Their Legacy Esports team has been seeded into the play-in round of the World Championships in 2020. While they won’t be able to compete at the highest level, they should be able to play on a higher scale, albeit at the local level.
Although not a direct competitor, Isles & Winsome should be commended for their contributions to C9 and for their role in the team’s maiden LCS campaign. It’s no secret that the top tier of the esports world wants to win each and every split they participate in. There isn’t much to gain by playing the same old games over and over again, if they can’t win.
During the off season, Cloud9 made several significant roster changes. One of the most notable changes is the introduction of a new bot lane and a more prominent mid lane position for Fudge. However, the biggest change was the release of Isles and Winsome, who were considered by many to be the best support duo in the LCS. Of course, they didn’t last long. Despite their impressive record, they were not able to clinch a spot in the finals. That said, Isles & Winsome have their sights set on more than just a berth in the LCS playoffs. To get there, they’ll need to start working together as a team.
Cloud9’s Academy roster finished second in NA Academy 2022 Spring
Cloud9’s Academy League team finished second in the NA Academy 2022 Spring season. The team is made up of eager players. Its primary role will be to help the LCS team succeed. They will be able to participate in events and also act as substitutes for the main team.
There are currently four players on the Cloud9 Academy team. However, more players may be able to start. To make sure they are able to start, teams need to comply with roster rules.
In addition to these four players, Cloud9 has signed an experienced mid laner to replace Jensen. Diplex will fill the shoes of Jensen and will start in mid lane.
In addition to Diplex, Cloud9 has also signed a player from the European esports scene. Sebastian “Malice” Edholm will be joining the C9 Academy squad. He has been playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 before.
2022 LCS Season
Cloud9 has also confirmed that Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen will be joining the team for the 2022 LCS season. Zven is known for his talents in League of Legends. Although he will be deputizing for Destiny, he will still be an active part of the roster.
Another player to join the Academy squad is Park “Summit” Woo-tae. Summit has played against Kim “Canna” Chang-dong. He has also had a great run in the Spring Proving Ground tournaments.
Cloud9 has also introduced new Challengers for the LCS 2023 season. Stixxay, Yusui and Hard have joined. They are expected to remain with the team until 2024.
There are rumors that Nick “LS” De Cesare is going to be a part of the roster. He has coached teams in the past.
There is also a rumor that Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez will be joining the organization. This is speculated because he has played for SK Gaming.
The rumors suggest that there is still a gap in the head coach position. LS is likely to be the new head coach.
Meanwhile, the Cloud9 Challengers roster has been shuffled from top to bottom. Hopefully, this will allow for a better performance in the future.
