How to Configure and Setup Nighthawk Mesh Router?

Nighthawk Mesh Router is a Netgear product. The Nighthawk router device designed to provide whole home coverage and high speed connectivity. It supports WiFi 6E and the newer one which is WiFi 7 standards. These routers are ideal for larger homes or those with larger number of connected devices. This mesh wifi Router is a reliable choice for high speed home network.

Routers can be managed via the Nighthawk app. It allows easy setup and network management, but advanced users can also configure more detailed settings via the web interface.

Here we go through, how to setup Nighthawk Mesh Router:

Unbox and Check Components of Nighthawk Mesh Router

First of all open the box safely, and check that there is all the components in the box as it says on the box.

  • Mesh router device,
  • Power adapter,
  • Ethernet Cable and
  • Satellite Units (if part of a larger mesh system).

Download Nighthawk Mesh Router App

To configure your wifi Mesh Router, download the Nighthawk app from play store, app store or you can download it from nighthawk.app.com. Using the app for configuration makes the process easy just follow the on-screen instructions and you can manage the router from anywhere around the world by using the Nighthawk app.

Power on your Router

After downloading the app, turn on your Router. To turn on, plugin the Nighthawk router on a wall socket and switch it on. And then wait for the lights to stabilize from blinking to solid. Once the light is stabilizing, it indicates that your Nighthawk Router is powered on.

Connect Nighthawk Mesh Router with Modem

You can connect Router with modem two ways; one is wired and other one is wireless.

Wired Connectivity

Use the Ethernet cable to connect Router with Modem. Take one end of the cable and insert it in the LAN port of modem and other end of the cable to the WAN port which is usually yellow in color or labelled as internet.

Wireless Connectivity

You can sync your router with modem using WPS button. You will see a WPS button on both the Router and Modem. Press the WPS button of modem and within 2 minutes press the WPS button of your Router. Now, Router and modem is synced.

Open Nighthawk App

Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions, app will automatically detect your Router. Now, Nighthawk app will guide you to complete the setup process.

Nighthawk Mesh Router Configuration

Login to the ‘Netgear Account’ or if you are a first time user then create an account and register your product. After Nighthawk Mesh Router login, you will be asked to choose a WiFi network name. You can keep the same network name but you should change the Network name, so you can differentiate between your existing network and router network.

Setup Mesh Satellites (if applicable)

If you want to add Mesh Satellites then this step is for you, otherwise you can skip this step. To add Mesh Satellite, plug the satellites and place them where you want to extend the network. Afterwards, Nighthawk app will detect the satellite automatically and sync it with the Router
Update Firmware

After the setup, app will ask you to check for the firmware update; if there is a new version of firmware is available. Always keep your firmware updated as it ensures the router performance.

Final Testing

Once the setup is completed, you can run the speed test by connecting your device with the new WiFi network. You can even customize the additional settings from the app such as guest network, parental control and many more.

Placement of Nighthawk Mesh Router

For the optimal coverage, you should place the router in mid-way location in your house. So, it can cover all the corners of house.
