But even though it might seem like everyone you know is going and all your friends are posting about it online, you probably still need to register soon if you want to get a ticket.
What is Canvas SDCCD?
The Society for Collaborative Coaching Digital and Collaborative Learning, or Canvas SDCCD, brings together educators from around the world who teach and coach using digital tools. It’s a chance for educators to share best practices for using tools like Canvas, Google Classroom, and other learning management systems with students. Educators can learn about and explore new ways to use these technologies so the entire learning experience is more collaborative and visual. There’s an emphasis on coaching: helping other educators get the most out of the tech they’re using. This conference is for educators at all levels teachers, principals, district directors who want to learn about using technology in the classroom and how to best support students who are already using digital tools. There are also workshops and presentations specifically for K-12 teachers.

Or perhaps you’ve been resisting the urge to attend just because you’re busy right now with other things. No matter what your reason is for wanting to attend, this conference is for you. This event is designed for educators who want to learn about using technology in the classroom and how to best support students who are already using digital tools. It’s an opportunity to learn from educators who have been out in front of these trends and who care deeply about how we can best use these tools so the entire learning experience is more collaborative and visual.
What’s New in Canvas?
New features tend to be what people talk about the most. And for good reason there are lots of new features in the latest version of Canvas that will improve people’s experience. There are so many new features that some teams at Instructure decided to create a new landing page to help people discover them. Here are a few of the highlights: Collaborative grading See what classmates have graded, hover over marks to see comments, add your own comments and give a grade. Interactive quizzes — Make questions interactive by adding images, videos, graphs, text and more to your questions to give them more context. New Chat features New ways to segment your chat by channel, invite others to join your chat, and share links.
More Learning in Less Time with Quizzes and Surveys
Quizzes are a tool you might use to test your students or to see how well students have learned the material. But they can also be used to gather data from your students to help inform your teaching. That’s just one of the many ways that quizzes can be used beyond grading. When you create a quiz in Canvas, you can choose to make it either an open or closed-ended quiz. If you choose the closed-ended quiz, you can also choose to add images to your questions. That will make your quiz even more engaging for your students and more useful for gathering more data. One of the newest features in Canvas is the ability to create surveys. This is a great way to gather data from your students to help inform your teaching.
